Meta tracking
A Stape alternative that sets up Meta Pixel and CAPI in your own code
Stape hosts server-side GTM containers and Meta CAPI Gateways. If you build with an AI agent or your app has a backend, Tyton sets up the Meta Pixel and Conversions API in your own code, and you can start on the Free plan.

If you're looking for a Stape alternative for Meta ads, start with how your site is built. Stape (stape.io) gives you two main routes to server-side tracking: a server-side Google Tag Manager container it hosts for you, or a gateway that copies your Meta Pixel's events. Tyton takes a different route. It sets up the Meta Pixel and the Conversions API (CAPI) in your own code, with the AI agent you already use, and sends server events from the backend where each sale or lead is confirmed. There's no server-side GTM container to configure, and you can start on the Free plan.
This guide is for teams whose site or app lives in code they can edit, especially apps with a backend. Below is how Tyton works, a side-by-side table, and what Stape is and what it costs.
How does Tyton work as a Stape alternative?
Tyton sets up the Meta Pixel and the Conversions API, and runs the hosted server that sends your server events to Meta. The tracking lives in your own code:
- Connect Tyton to your AI agent: Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor. It connects over MCP, the standard connection that lets it call Tyton's tools.
- Review the tracking plan: each action to track, where it happens and what proves it succeeded. You approve it before anything goes live.
- The tracking goes into your code at the point where each action is confirmed, such as the backend code that handles a paid order. Tests run in verification mode, which doesn't send anything to Meta.
- Start tracking once the checks pass. Tyton sends server events to Meta and shows each event's status on a live event dashboard. Browser and server copies of one action share an event name and event ID, so Meta can deduplicate them.
What that means in practice:
- There's no server-side GTM container to configure. Tyton hosts the server that delivers events to Meta.
- Server events come from your backend. A paid order your backend confirms can still reach Meta when the browser never fired a Purchase, for example when the buyer closed the tab before the thank-you page.
- Server events need a backend you can edit. On a site builder with no backend, Tyton adds browser tracking only.
- Tyton is Meta-only today. It doesn't send events to Google, TikTok or other ad platforms.
You can start on the Free plan: 1 site, 10,000 events a month and 7 days of event history, with no card. A browser event and its server copy count as 2. Starter is $17 a month for 100,000 events. Pro is $49 a month for up to 3 sites, 500,000 events and 30 days of history. Yearly billing is 20% off. See pricing, and the quickstart for each setup step.
Stape vs Tyton: how do they compare?
Stape | Tyton | |
|---|---|---|
Setup method | A server GTM container that Stape hosts and you configure in GTM, or a dedicated gateway connected to your existing Pixel | Your AI agent adds Pixel and CAPI tracking to your own code over MCP, and Tyton hosts the server that sends events to Meta |
Where server events come from | Server GTM: data your container receives from your site, CRM or other sources. Meta gateway: your Pixel's web events | Your backend, at the point where the action is confirmed |
Who it's for | Server GTM: "Multi-platform tracking from one setup." Gateways: teams who want one platform and, in Stape's words, "do not have developers or tracking specialists available for a manual Conversions API implementation" | Teams who work in their own code, especially apps with a backend they can edit |
Free option | Server GTM Free plan, up to 10,000 requests a month. 7-day free trial on gateways | Free plan: 1 site, 10,000 events a month, 7 days of history, no card |
Paid pricing, billed monthly | Server GTM Pro $20 a month. Meta CAPI Gateway $10 a month per Pixel | Starter $17 a month. Pro $49 a month for up to 3 sites |
Platforms | Multi-platform: Meta, GA4, Google Ads, TikTok and Snapchat, through server GTM or dedicated gateways | Meta only |

What is Stape, and what does it cost?
Stape is a server-side tracking company. Its site lists two main product lines (stape.io):
- Server GTM Hosting. Stape says it "runs your server-side GTM container, so you don't have to manage the infrastructure yourself." (Stape) You set up the tracking in Google Tag Manager, with tags and triggers for each platform you send data to. Stape describes this route as "Multi-platform tracking from one setup."
- Dedicated Gateways. One gateway per platform. Stape lists gateways for the Meta Conversions API, TikTok Events API, Snapchat Conversions API, GA4 and Google Ads, and Meta Signals Gateway. (Stape) Its Meta CAPI Gateway connects to your existing Meta Pixel, with no GTM container setup.
Stape's FAQ explains where its Meta gateway gets events: "The CAPIG depends on Meta web pixel events to trigger server-side events." To add a new event, it says, the event "must first be set up with Meta Pixel." (Stape)
Stape pricing
From Stape's pricing pages, checked October 20, 2026. Prices in USD as listed.

Meta CAPI Gateway, Unlimited | $100 | $83 | Up to 100 Pixels, up to 200 million events a month per Pixel |
Sources: stape.io/price and stape.io/price-gateway. Stape also lists Enterprise and Custom server GTM plans.
So Stape does have a $0 plan, and it's for server GTM. The Meta CAPI Gateway starts with a 7-day free trial, then $10 a month per Pixel on monthly billing.
One thing to watch when you compare prices: the units differ. Stape counts server GTM usage in requests and gateway usage in events per Pixel. Tyton counts every browser event and every server copy as one event each.
Which one fits you?
Tyton fits if most of these are true:
- Meta is the ad platform you need server events for.
- Your app has a backend, or you build with an AI agent that can edit your code.
- You'd rather not set up or maintain a server-side GTM container.
- You want to review a tracking plan and test it before anything reaches Meta.
- You want to start on a Free plan and upgrade when your volume grows.
If you need server-side tracking for Google or TikTok in the same setup, Tyton doesn't cover that today.
How do you move from Stape to Tyton?
- Run the free audit to see what your site sends to Meta now. The audit doesn't need a Tyton account.
- Decide which tool owns each Meta event. If a Stape gateway or GTM container already sends your Purchase, keep one owner per event, so Meta doesn't get two copies with different event IDs.
- Follow the quickstart to connect your site and approve your tracking plan.
For background on why browser and server copies need matching IDs, read Conversions API vs Meta Pixel. If you're also weighing Meta's own gateway, see our Meta CAPI Gateway guide.
FAQ
Is there a free Stape alternative?
Yes. Tyton has a Free plan for Meta Pixel and Conversions API tracking: 1 site, 10,000 events a month and 7 days of event history, with no card. A browser event and its server copy count as 2. If a site reaches 10,000, server tracking pauses until the 1st of the next month or until you upgrade, and the browser Pixel keeps running. Tyton covers Meta only.
Does Stape have a free plan?
Yes. Stape's server GTM Free plan covers up to 10,000 requests a month, with no credit card. Its Meta CAPI Gateway has a 7-day free trial rather than a $0 plan (stape.io/price, stape.io/price-gateway, checked October 20, 2026).
How much does Stape's Meta CAPI Gateway cost?
Stape lists $10 a month per Pixel on monthly billing, or $8 a month per Pixel billed yearly, for up to 10 million events a month per Pixel. Its Unlimited plan is $100 a month, or $83 a month billed yearly, for up to 100 Pixels (stape.io/price-gateway, checked October 20, 2026).
Do I need Google Tag Manager to use Tyton?
No. The tracking goes into your own code. If you already send Meta events through GTM, decide which tool owns each event before you add Tyton, so the same action isn't reported twice with different IDs.
Does Tyton work with TikTok, GA4 or Google Ads?
No. Tyton is Meta only today: the Meta Pixel and the Conversions API.
Can I use Tyton without a backend?
You can add browser tracking through your site builder's custom code. Server events need a backend you can edit and a reliable way to confirm that the action succeeded.
